BICC is a tax-exempt, non-profit religious organization serving the religious, educational, charitable, and community needs of Muslims in the Greater Bridgeport area.

Bridgeport Islamic Community Center is established exclusively for religious, educational, and charitable purposes. Our vision is to build a strong and coherent Islamic community whose members represent the Islamic faith by practicing values committed to the dignity and prosperity of every human being.

BICC’s mission is to serve the religious needs of all Muslims in the Greater Bridgeport area and support their integration in American society while preserving Islamic identity, values, and community connection.

Our History

BICC has grown from early community education efforts into a comprehensive Islamic center serving Bridgeport and surrounding communities.

Milestones

  • The idea of building a comprehensive Islamic Center in the Bridgeport area started around the year 2000.
  • BICC was incorporated on July 17, 2002.
  • The Saturday School began at the University of Bridgeport masjid in the early 2000s with 15 students and quickly grew to about 100 students.
  • The University of Bridgeport provided Dana Hall for one full year at no cost.
  • The school continued in Dana Hall until May 2007.
  • Al-Manar Center was purchased in September 2005.
  • The Islamic Center at 877 Park Avenue was purchased in May 2017.
